Hello friends !
I’m finally back with a new blog post related to my reading journey. I
didn’t post anything during May and June, because I was excited to read some
books and to do my bullet journal videos. So, I skipped April and May
Highlights, even though I recorded all my highlights inside my bullet journal
highlight, but I didn’t have enough motivation to write them all and publish it
on this blog.
This month, I decided to participate in one of Readathon held on July
which related to mythology. It’s Olympic Games Readathon. This readathon is a
Percy Jackson inspired one, which provide some prompts based on your chosen
God/Goddess. You don’t have to read or have read Percy Jackson, just join in
and have fun. Honestly I never participated in any readathon before, because I
was scared and overwhelmed by my own thoughts. But, finally this year, I’m
joining a readathon which is related to something I love.
If you joined this readathon last year, you can choose the same team as you were the year before, or if you want to take the little quiz to know your current team, you will go to Rick Riordan’s website. Then you have to declare your team and then check the prompts for your team. Beside the main prompts, there are some bonus prompts you can choose after finishing your team’s prompts.
The detailed announcement and all the links you need can be found here on Ishi Time's video as well as other hosts of this readathon which she linked in her description box.
This year I’m Team Athena, and I decided to read 8 books this month (I
read 10 books on May and 8 books on June, so I want to at least read 8 books on
July too).
My July 2021 Reading Plans
My whole July TBR is all from Olympic Games Readathon prompts and I think
it will be interesting list. Currently as I write this blog, I’m reading 2
books for this readathon, hopefully I can read more books this month too.
1. A book which features school
The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
2. A middle-grade book
Twinchantment by Elise Allen
3. A book that features a quest or a mission
A Pinch of Magic by Michelle Harrison
4. A book by your favorite author
Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
5. A book with grey cover
The Lions of the Fifth Avenue
BONUS CHALLENGES
6. Archery : A book shorter than 200 pages
The Beauty of Being A Beast by Jennifer Estep
7. Pegasus Riding : A book published within last 5 years
Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor
8. Climbing Wall : The next book in a series
Hollowpox by Jessica Townsend
THE OTHER PROMPTS I WANT TO COMPLETE :
Monster Fighting : a book featuring magical creatures
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
Canoeing : A book which takes place on or near a body of water
A Song Below Water by Bethany C Morrow
Capture the Flag : one of your most anticipated books
The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin
Also, I decided to join Tarot Readathon which uses tarot to determine your TBR list. This readathon will be started on July 10 to July 24, so we have 2 weeks to finish the books. I decided to join Team Swords (because I’m Aquarius sun and Gemini moon – so, it’s mainly Swords element) which has its own upright and reversal. Swords upright is you may use one book to fulfill two prompts but only once during the readathon, the number of pages in the book will count double. Then the reversal is a book for one of your prompts must be chosen at random.
I used my own tarot deck to pick my TBR, and I decided to add only 4
books, so I drew only 4 cards which are The Judgement (20), The Magician (1),
The Emperor (4) and 3 of Cups (3). So many major arcana cards here. And my
Major Arcana trophy point is 28!
Here are my next books to read (some of the books are from my bonus
challenge book list, because I want to prioritize them) :
1. The Judgement : A book from previous TBR (a book you’ve been currently reading for a long time)
Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor
2. The Magician : A story with magical elements
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
3. The Emperor : A book written by a man
Before The Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi
4. 3 of Cups : A book featuring friendship
Hollowpox by Jessica Townsend
Too many books to read this month. But I’m excited to finish them all.
So, do you have some books you want to read this month? Or do you usually
participate in a readathon like this? Or if you have a favorite book to
recommend, tell me down below!
I’m planning to either post my June books or June highlights. Let’s see.
Okay. See you on the next blog post!
