Hi! We’re back for the second year
in Orilium Academy. This Spring semester, we have the options to continue our
previous career or to choose a new one. I decided to continue the career I’ve
chosen which is Story Weaver, so for April I’m going to read books which suit
Story Weaver prompts.
1. Art of Illusion
Prompt : match clothe’s colour to
cover colour
Book : Wilderlore : The Accidental
Apprentice by Amanda Foody
I got this book from Periplus Year End Sale, and I’ve been waiting to read this book for a readathon with green /
nature cover prompt. I picked this book (finally) because I realized I own more
green clothes than any other colours.
BLURB
“A boy who accidentally bonds with a
magical Beast must set off on an adventure in the mysterious Woods in this
whimsical and cheeky middle grade fantasy debut--perfect for fans of Nevermoor
and How to Train Your Dragon.
The last thing Barclay Thorne ever
wanted was an adventure.
Thankfully, as an apprentice to the
town's mushroom farmer, Barclay need only work hard and follow the rules to one
day become the head mushroom farmer himself. No danger required. But then Barclay
accidentally breaks his town's most sacred rule: never ever EVER stray into the
Woods, for within the Woods lurk vicious magical Beasts.
To Barclay's horror, he faces a fate
far worse than being eaten: he unwittingly bonds with a Beast and is run out of
town by an angry mob. Determined to break this bond and return home, Barclay
journeys to find the mysterious town of Lore Keepers, people who have also
bonded with Beasts and share their powers.
But after making new friends,
entering a dangerous apprenticeship exam, and even facing the legendary Beast
of the Woods, Barclay must make a difficult choice: return to the home and
rules he's always known, or embrace the adventure awaiting him.”
2. Lore
Prompt : book with a map
Book : Graceling by Kristin Cashore
I have started this book before and
it’s mentioned in my March TBR since I wanted to finish this book on March, but
then I lost my mood after reading a 500+ pages book, and I only want to read
picture books. So I’m hoping to finish this book on April. In the beginning of
the book, it shows a map of the seven kingdoms which helps me picture the
location of each kingdom and their relationships to each other.
BLURB
“Graceling tells the story of the
vulnerable-yet-strong Katsa, who is smart and beautiful and lives in the Seven
Kingdoms where selected people are born with a Grace, a special talent that can
be anything at all. Katsa's Grace is killing. As the king's niece, she is
forced to use her extreme skills as his brutal enforcer. Until the day she
meets Prince Po, who is Graced with combat skills, and Katsa's life begins to
change. She never expects to become Po's friend. She never expects to learn a
new truth about her own Grace-or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far
away . . . a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.”
3. Psionics & Divination
Prompt : clouds on the cover or in
the title
Book : True Mothers by Mizuki Tsujimura
This is my newest book haul this
year. It arrived someday on March, and I really want to read another book by
Mizuki Tsujimura after finishing Kastel Terpencil di Dalam Cermin and Lonely Castle in the Mirror. True Mothers was translate into Indonesian and published
by Penerbit Haru on February 2023. The cover consists of clouds and blue sky,
so I think it’s suitable for this prompt.
BLURB
“Tolong, kembalikan anak saya.
Suatu pagi telepon rumah keluarga
Kurihara berdering. Perempuan yang mengaku sebagai ibu kandung anak adopsi
mereka menginginkan anaknya kembali. Nama ibu kandung yang perempuan itu
sebutkan memang nama ibu kandung anak angkat mereka, tetapi….
Bayi ini datang membawa fajar.”
4. Inscription
Prompt : book from your top
(highest) shelf
Book : Legenda Perompak Naga : Seni
Membangunkan Naga dari Laut by Wisnu Suryaning Adji
This book is also part of my March TBR but I haven’t continued reading it. I wanted to finish this book since I
have owned this book for a long time, and the main character is an interesting
one, since he’s more into peace and avoiding any fights even though he’s one of
pirate crews.
BLURB
“Wahai Pendengar,
Kumohon, setelah mendengarnya,
simpanlah kisah ini untuk dirimu sendiri.”
