REVIEW BUKU
(Progresnya Berapa Persen? isn’t just an office rom-com novel, it actually has a lot of interesting things about the working world. Beneath the lighthearted story, there are a lot of real-life lessons, especially about work, specifically in construction consulting. It shows why progress reports matter, why people end up working overtime all the time, and how teamwork between divisions can determine whether a project succeeds or fails. Sudden meetings, last-minute client changes, or technical errors on-site aren’t just problems in construction, they happen in almost every industry. So if you already have a job, you’ll definitely relate to this!
But work isn’t just about tasks and deadlines. Your relationship with your coworkers plays a huge role in making the office feel more comfortable. April and her friends show that having a solid team makes everything feel lighter and less stressful. But this book also keeps it real, teamwork isn’t just about having fun together, it’s also about responsibility. In real life, some people work harder than others, some don’t take initiative, and some only show up when there’s free food. That’s why good teamwork is super important to keep everything running smoothly.
One of the most interesting characters for me is Pakde. At first, he seems cold, stiff, doesn’t get his team’s weird jokes, and is way too serious. But as the story goes on, you start to see that he’s actually a professional leader. He doesn’t just ask, "How much progress have you made?", he actually gets involved. He stays late at work, tells his team to go home when they’re exhausted, and even treats them to meals, either as appreciation or just to keep the team’s mood up. And when Naufal quit in the middle of a major project after landing a job at a top architecture firm, Pakde didn’t get mad or try to stop him. Instead, he made sure the transition went smoothly so the project wouldn’t fall apart. He even told a new hire that switching jobs is normal, and that as a boss, he’d never hold someone back from growing. Let’s be honest, there aren’t a lot of managers like that in real life.
His relationship with April also gets complicated, but I love that he stays professional. No unnecessary drama affecting their work. He still asks for progress updates, stays firm when mistakes happen, and never acts immature. A lot of bosses in real life just give orders without understanding how much work their team already has. But Pakde proves that a good leader doesn’t have to be super friendly, they just need to be fair, supportive, and professional no matter what.
And of course, there are plenty of hilarious moments. One of my favorites is when April says, "I’m tired of being an employee. When do I get to be the president’s kid?" That’s basically every office worker’s struggle, being sick of getting bossed around but knowing they don’t have the privilege of an easy shortcut like people who are born into power. I mean, let’s be real, in the real world, if you’re the president’s kid, you can go straight to being vice president, right?)
Ditambah lagi, sudut pandang April bikin ceritanya makin seru, kadang dia ngeluh, kadang bikin ngakak, tapi selalu terasa realistis.
■ Dunia kerja nggak harus serius dan membosankan. Para karyawan di sini menunjukkan kalau kerja nggak berarti otomatis membuat kita jadi orang tua yang super kaku. Justru, mereka masih bisa bercanda, ketawa bareng, makan siang rame-rame, karaokean, main badminton, sampai curhat. Chemistry mereka kuat banget, bikin suasana kantor terasa hidup.
■ April dan Pakde? Gemesin banget! Interaksi mereka seru dan bikin penasaran, terutama pas April mulai curiga kalau Pakde ada rasa sama dia. Cara penulisannya beneran bikin pembaca ikut gemes dan deg-degan, apalagi waktu April sendiri bingung harus gimana. Momen-momen awkwardnya tuh nular banget, bikin yang baca ikut senyum-senyum sendiri.
(■Super memorable characters. Every character has a unique personality that makes them easy to remember. There’s Clinton and Naufal, the hilarious duo nicknamed the "Tachibana twins," Bang Adrinta, the wise one, Sheila, who blushes easily and always supports April, Kenzo, who turns out to be from the same university as April, and of course, Pakde, the guy who keeps everyone guessing what color shirt he’ll wear every Thursday. Their interactions feel so real, like actual office banter!
■The humor flows naturally and is actually funny. There are so many moments that feel spontaneous instead of forced. Like when April reacts to Sheila fangirling over Pakde, or when employees start betting on the badminton match between Pakde and Ryan just to make a quick buck. And then there’s Naufal, who gets roasted nonstop for getting dumped four times but still flirts with Sheila, even though she has a rich boyfriend.
■Lots of cool insights into construction and civil engineering (and architecture!). This book introduced me to technical terms like DED, shop drawing, aanwijzing, RAP, BOQ, MOS, RKS, and more. But don’t worry, it explains everything in a simple way, and there are footnotes so you don’t have to Google every term.
■Ex drama? It’s there, but not over the top. Ryan, April’s ex, turns out to be Pak Tio’s nephew and works at the same company. But their relationship is super chill, they even joke about their past without any unnecessary drama. No love triangles, no messy fights. Everything feels natural, light, and relatable.
■This story is addicting. With its unforgettable characters, their absurd antics, the detailed office setting in the construction world, and the super realistic coworker interactions, I just couldn’t stop reading. Plus, April’s perspective makes it even more fun, sometimes she complains, sometimes she’s hilarious, but she always feels real.
■Work life doesn’t have to be serious and boring. The employees here prove that having a job doesn’t mean turning into some stiff, boring adult. They still joke around, laugh together, go out for lunch, sing karaoke, play badminton, and even vent about life. Their chemistry is so strong that the office feels alive.
■April and Pakde? Too cute! Their interactions are so entertaining, especially when April starts suspecting that Pakde might actually like her. The way it’s written makes you feel all the emotions like curious, flustered, excited. And when April herself gets confused about what to do, the awkward moments are infectious that you can’t help but smile like an idiot while reading.)
HAL YANG KURANG AKU SUKA DARI BUKU INI
■ Romance-nya seru, tapi tarik-ulurnya bikin gregetan!mAku suka hubungan mereka secara keseluruhan, tapi bagian tarik ulurnya tuh beneran menguji kesabaran. Waktu Pakde akhirnya menyatakan perasaannya, April malah ragu. Pas Pakde berusaha meyakinkan dia, April tetap nggak yakin.
Bagus sih, thoughtful banget. Tapi kok dia nggak nanya dulu April mau punya anak atau nggak? Langsung bikin kamar anak duluan kayak udah pasti aja.
■ Transisi antar adegan kurang mulus, bikin bingung.
(■The romance is fun, but the back-and-forth is so frustrating! I love their relationship overall, but the push-and-pull dynamic seriously tests my patience. When Pakde finally confesses, April hesitates. Then, when Pakde tries to convince her, she’s still unsure. And just when April realizes she likes him too, Pakde suddenly acts distant. It’s the kind of moment that makes you want to scream, "Just get together already! Why make it so complicated?!" And don’t even get me started on April still thinking Pakde has a thing for his childhood friend who looks like a Barbie. I just wanted to shake them and tell them to sort it out already!
■Pakde is super well-prepared, but sometimes he takes too much initiative on his own. He’s so serious about the future that he already started planning their house, even asking April about furniture and colors. That’s really thoughtful, but dude, maybe ask if she even wants kids before making a nursery? It’s like he just assumed she’d say yes. And when they go out together, he still talks like a boss at work: "Follow me. Now." or "I’m starving. We’re eating. No discussion." I get it, he’s used to giving orders. But if he asked more instead of just deciding, his attractiveness level would go up even more. It’s like a -5% hotness penalty, but I’ll let it slide. He probably just knows April too well, figures out what she wants before she even says it, and thinks if he doesn’t act fast, she’ll keep running away until Indonesia has flying taxis.
■Scene transitions feel rough, which is confusing. I’m not sure if this is because of the e-book format or just the writing style, but the shifts between scenes especially when the timeline changes, feel super sudden. More than once, I had to go back and reread the last paragraph to check if we were still in the same moment or if the story had already jumped to another place. If there were clearer visual breaks, extra spacing, or transition markers, it would definitely be easier to follow.)
(Overall, this book successfully delivers a light, funny, and colorful take on office life. The interactions between April and her coworkers make this story feel alive and super addictive to read. Besides the natural humor, there are also plenty of lessons about professionalism, teamwork, and responsibility both at work and in personal life.
If you enjoy office-themed novels with memorable characters, fresh humor, and a romance that’ll have you screaming "JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY," then this book is a must-read. Sure, there are some moments that feel a bit off or make you want to yell at the characters, but the story is still super fun and entertaining. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a light, feel-good read that’s both funny and surprisingly insightful.)
